How do you buy a church property?

Short answer: confirm who owns it and whether it is for sale, form or use an eligible organization, get the property inspected and the title checked, agree terms, raise the funds, close, and only then call it acquired.

• Confirm ownership and sale status. Church property is often held by a denomination or trust rather than the local congregation. Verification checks ownership, sale status, price and terms before a campaign is public.
• Use an eligible organization. A congregation, ministry or coalition with authority to act applies through Apply. Individuals cannot buy through this platform.
• Diligence. Title, zoning, physical condition and engineering reports are uploaded to a private vault and reviewed by staff.
• Terms and funding. A budget and funding plan (gifts, pledges, matching, grants, loans, organization funds) must add up. Reaching the funding threshold moves the campaign to acquisition.
• Closing. Acquired is declared only after staff review closing evidence such as the recorded deed. Then restoration, reopening and sustainability follow.
